** spoiler alert ** Ima keep it real with yall, Persephone irritated the hell outa me throughout most of the story. I understand that she was still getting used to her relationship with Hades and having a very hard time with discovering her own identity without it always being associated with her boyfriend, HOWEVER, I felt like she tried to start arguments w/ him for anything. She lowkey was acting like the world revolved around her. Gets mad b/c he’s afraid to tell her things or let her know where he has gone to but also gets annoyed when people ask her “are you sure Hades will be okay with this?” or “Does Hades know you’re here rn?”. Gets pissed off when he tells her he doesn’t appreciate her behavior yet when he tells her not to speak to someone AKA Apollo, she disregards his wishes and bargains with him anyways. it was maddening. and don’t get me started on her being so angry that Hades couldn’t heal Lexa after her accident. It’s like did you even listen to him the whole time he’s been saying his role at the God of the dead? It’s like she ignores him when he speaks of the Fates 🤦🏽‍♀️. Or even when she was pissed that he didn’t tell her he owns a bunch of charities that help sick kids. Oh wait no, when she got mad b/c he didn’t tell her he had a phone. Like GIRL 😭💀. Don’t get me wrong, I really love how strong Persephone is despite all the difficulties she’s had to deal w/ all her life and I admire how she worked through 18 years of isolation and imprisonment w/o love, to the powerful journalist she is now. But to keep it real, it was very hard to love her for most of the story! My love when to a likeness and I hope I get that love for her back by the next book lol.

That’s why I was lowkey glad, even though I was hurt, that the author used Lexa’s tragic death to pretty much force Persephone to understand that things aren’t always going to go her way. There are some things in life that are just inevitable and she would need to understand that. and I feel like the only reason why she’s had that luxury of behaving the way that she does throughout this story is because she has this idea that she can have the best of both worlds. She can be both a normal mortal as well as a goddess which isn’t the case. And she thinks because her man is Hades, whatever she wants she will get. But even in a world with mortals and gods, some things are predestined and you cannot change its course. She spent so much time in this book assuming the worst out of her relationship with Hades when he’s made it abundantly clear that he loves her, he’s in love with her, and she is the love of his life. He allows himself to be vulnerable w/ you, and aches when he has the slightest thought that you may not love him as much as he loves you. They really are made for each other and see the light and the darkness that grows in one another. By book 3, they better have their communication skills down packed!!

I really do hope Persephone and Hades become one b/c they are going to be fighting this war that Demeter will bring, together. Also, compared to A Game of Fate (Hades’ POV), this book didn’t have as much sex scenes at that one did but i’m glad b/c although the scenes are SPICY, I feel like it takes away from the whole plot b/c we spend so much time focusing on them fucking lol. Overall, I liked this book b/c it gave us another chance to understand and explore the different personalities of all the other characters without straying away from the main story.
