Here Comes the Sun by Nicole Dennis-Benn

5.0

The beginning of the book was slow, it took me several days to get through the first 100+ pages because of the character story lines taking shape but well worth it. It was juicy, gritty, and wholesome in its story telling of the the hardship of Jamaicans being pushed out of their communities by mega hotels and the government, of the abuse and scorn for homosexuals, of young girls being forced into sex work and dark skin perceived as ugly as sin. Thandi, Margot and Delores are resplendent, if they were physical actors, I would have given them a standing ovation.
