The Tell by Amy Griffin
4.5
challenging dark reflective tense fast-paced

Moving processing through trauma, abuse and grief. Massive child abuse trigger warning, be gentle and careful.

It seems strange to put a quantifiable value (stars) on someone else’s trauma work, but this book provides an interesting viewpoint on psychedelics in therapy use. I also wanted to hear more about the author’s experiences processing in context of the overturn of Roe vs wade- it made my heart hurt for the stories of domestic and child abuse devalued by men in the American south.

I found myself wondering about how the author’s privilege shaped her processing, but then I remembered I read this in essentially one sitting en route to Europe…. I will update this review after I book club this with my mother in law while on holiday as we also unpack our own white privilege. Still noodling- I got 2 hours of sleep.
