The Traitor's Kingdom by Erin Beaty
3.0

Usually the third book is the best book, but not here.

I do still really enjoy this series and would recommend it to all. However, I do feel the books going down a little each time. For me, the plots just aren't as strong and seem a bit of a stretch. Early into this book, Sage is promoted to ambassador. I'm sure it's because I haven't personally known any 6th century kings, but promoting Sage, an 18 year old illegitimate child (yes, not a big deal now but back then huge deal) to that of a royal tutor made sense. She enjoyed teaching. She "taught" people to read in book 1. To promote her to ambassador so quickly, seemed like a stretch. But ok, I'll work with it. Then she gets promoted again and I think.....no way. Is it just me?

That mixed with the lazy plot made this a solid 3. Still entertaining. Still fun to read. Still love the characters. But [b:The Traitor's Kiss|29346870|The Traitor's Kiss (The Traitor's Circle, #1)|Erin Beaty|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1485799438l/29346870._SY75_.jpg|49584011] is the true star of this series.
