This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar

4.0

Now I think I understand what Bigolas Dickolas was on about in their infamous viral tweet about this book.

read this. DO NOT look up anything about it. just read it. it's only like 200 pages u can download it on audible it's only like four hours. do it right now i'm very extremely serious.

This Tweet of course sparked this book to go from "good book" to "international bestseller". Marketing teams around the world now have the name "bigolas dickolas" in their lexicon and use it regularly - my own marketing teams included.

So, does it live up to Mx Dickolas's praise? Sure, it's a good book. And it is really, really short. I finished it in like 2 sittings. I'll be honest it isn't really my usual type of book. I love sci-fi but I loathe fantasy and romance, and this straddled the line uncomfortably and I may have suppressed a few eye rolls whilst reading it. But regardless of my personal feelings, I'm glad I finally read it, and I appreciate Mx Dickolas for the recommendation. It really is very short and quite good.

Rated 3.5, rounded up out of respect to Mx Dickolas, the authors, and the person who lent me their copy.
