I read Piper Rayne's THE BAILEYS series and loved it! This is definitely a different tone. THE DO OVER is much more serious and broody. There is not a lot of levity or funny bits but there is a seriously GREAT friend group filled with likable characters and you just want to be in this circle of friends!
Knox met Kamea one night at a bar and their connection was instant. But he had just had his heart broken so he took a different woman home, one that was fling material. Now, years later, they cross oaths again and Knox realizes what a mistake he made in letting Kamea go.
This isn't a traditional 2nd Chance Romance, but the sparks and regret are the same. Kamea was a great heroine: smart, hard working, and kind. Knox is extra swoony and tough.
My only problem with this story was the central internal conflict just repeated over and over again:
HER: You didn't choose me back then.
HIM: I should have chosen you.
HER: But you didn't.
HIM: But I wish I had.
*repeat and repeat and repeat*
It's not a big deal. This story is still really good. But I was left wishing for more complexity.
Overall, this might be a great read for you if you love strong women, alpha men, and a great side-story of meaningful friendships.
