Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

5.0

The start was slow for me personally so I thought I was going to come into this thinking this is another overhyped book? But it wasn't at all and it ended up being a masterpiece??

I read One Last Stop before reading Red White And Royal Blue so I already knew what I was getting into. Kind of. From what I read in Casey's other book, the writing style she uses is really well done and good quality though if I had to give it some criticism, sometimes it is easy to just skip half the page to get to the good parts. But nonetheless, still great. This book obviously had the same writing style, but it felt much more refreshing with a completely different storyline and vibe. The characters presented were also new and weren't just copy and pasted, and yeah. Overall just a different book that still felt like it was written by Casey McQuiston. Everything from the plot & world building to the characters & their development I loved with all my heart. I felt so connected all the way throughout this book and while I couldn't really relate to anything that happened, reading about a topic that happens outside of a book like this was interesting and unexpectedly exciting to know about. I think that's what I love about Casey as an author, she can always make you feel included in whatever book she writes whether it's something like this or the life of a college student which is very relatable. That might just be me.

The thing that really made this a 5 star book were Alex & Henry and their relationship. Is it stupid to want the same chemistry as a fictional couple? God it was just so perfect but also not perfect but perfect at the same time?! They were like 2 seperate pieces of a puzzle that connected together perfectly. And- yeah. I cant explain them without writing a 2,000 word essay. But I can easily say they're my favourite couple out of all the books I've read prior. Everything about them was just so perfect. I think them as a whole invented the word perfect.

Reading back at what I've just written, I literally just wrote a summary of what I thought of the book in the first paragraph and in the second I just raved on about A and H's relationship. Not really a well structured review but you get my point. I love this book so so much and I wish I had read it sooner<33333
