This is an excellent introduction to the final days of the Raj, cleverly woven into a mystery. A hint of romance is intertwined with rich history and politics. The supporting characters add just the right mix of clues and red herrings, creating a well-balanced and thoroughly entertaining story. For me, it was a moderately paced read, as I was absorbing the historical details while enjoying the fictional narrative.
