Tagged as "Whole Book Written before an Early Lunch".

Nothing else would excuse the mess of:-
* plots presumably interrupted by a Person from Porlock, because they go nowhere;
* plots that loop the loop--a lot;
* cops investigating all past lovers except the murderer;
* a cheating ex who loves the MC still. Oh, yes, he does. Oh, no, he doesn't. Oh, yes... Oh, no...

And, OK, I have a weakness for books in which an MC groans, "You're mine--mine, I tell you." (The MC has to groan this, not simply declare it, of course.) But even Cord's possessive groaning (and occasional moaning) was not enough to save "Floodgates" from being, frankly, a hot mess.
