Le Cid by Pierre Corneille, Joseph Rutter, John R. Pierce

2.5

French required reading just keeps getting worse
  • The rhythm of the verses are very fun!! And they flow well when you say the lines aloud, especially since it rhymes
  • If Chimène lowkey just made up her mind this play would be half as long
    • Like the entirety of the book is her just being like omg I love Rodrigue!! But also I want him dead. GIRL STAND UP!!
    • I must admit she was kinda annoying... mostly just because we never really got to hear much of her reasoning at all, other than just oh but I MUST!!
  • There are so many complex emotions going on that I was just waiting for it to be good, but it was factually extremely mid. Let me get into the nitty gritty!! Why am I being held at arm's length!! I want to KNOW these characters!! They could have been SO INTERESTING!!
  • Infante is my girl I think she deserves better because Rodrigue CANNOT be all that
    • Seriously speaking if we focused on her feelings for the plot of the story it would've been so much more entertaining I must admit
