Swap by Mariah Montoya

5.0

For me, Swap feels like a truly unique take on Alice in Wonderland. An Ai Wonderland where the deaf can hear and pain is nonexistent, where the saying when it sounds too good to be true it usually is checks all the boxes and a choice can literally turn your life upside-down in mere seconds.

Mariah Montoya included a great representation of impaired hearing and sign language, with some of the sign language words described as the characters were signing them. The world building, of the molecular world as well as the AI sim is really well done.

Swap has a nice pace and lots of twists and turns which keep you hooked and wanting to know more. And the ending!!! Prepare for a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the second book!
