The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
4.5
Plot or Character Driven: Character

i enjoyed this book a lot and i think a lot of it is because i relate so much to esther.
from her worries about traditional marriage & growing up religious to her place in society to her mental health to her perfectionism & discontent and unease with her life and her future and her goals... she just like me fr!!! even her worrying about her virginity in that detached way is how i have thought abt it. her constant worries about her life makes her so real to me.

i think the plot can feel meandering at some points in the middle but
overall i like seeing her struggle through what should b a fairytale in new york and come crashing down even harder having to come back down to suburbia. her up and down in the asylum was really compelling at the end as well.

i liked this a lot! i enjoyed esthers head more than anything happening plot wise but i think that's pretty expected.
