Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult

5.0

Oh my goodness this book. This is the first Jodi Picoult book I've read in a while but I've fallen in love with her work all over again.

The story follows Jenna, a 13 year old girl who is desperately trying to find out what happened to her mother after she went missing 10 years ago. Jenna teams up with Virgil, the failed detective who worked the original case and Serenity, a celebrity psychic.

The story is so easy to get into and from the start I was hooked. There were so many plot twist and just when you think you've figured out what's happened, there's another twist and you're completely wrong! The amount of times I gasped outloud at this book is ridiculous.

It's a Jodi Picoult book so of course, it's written from multiple perspectives which I really love. One of the perspectives is from Jenna's mother before she went missing so we gradually build up a picture of her life which helps the reader to work out what happened to her along with the other characters working it out too.

I love the way Jodi Picoult writes and the effect and research she does to make sure her books are accurate is incredible. This book is partly set in an elephant sanctuary so I learned so many new things about elephants which must have taken Jodi Picoult so long to research.

I absolutely did not see the ending of this coming and it's probably one of the biggest book plot twists I've read!!
