The Lady and the Orc by Finley Fenn

5.0

Trigger warnings for the book: Kidnapping, betrayal, mentioned sexual assault, pregnancy/impregnantion, loss of pregnancy

Writing this review 4 months after finishing the book so forgive me if the details are hazy.
I really enjoyed this book! Smut was good, the love interest was actually a monster, not just a pretty man who is strong like a lot of “monster” romances.

I do not understand people kicking up a fuss about the ending, I feel like they must have missed the part where he always planned to save/see her?? Yes, he did put her in danger, but he did shortly after save her. It was gut wrenching, but he also did it for his people…? I think that’s far nobler of a cause than letting your people live in horrible situations and probably extinction in the future for the sake of love… it is a romance book but I enjoyed this take on the genre, with the worldly consequences instead of just a love plot.

Some of the book was a bit awkward, lots of mentions of orc seed and impregnation, but you become used to it pretty soon on, if any of that sounds unfun to you then probably sit out this book as it comes up a Lot.
