I love how Mandel writes in a way that is simplistic and elegant. The story here is a simple one, revolving around a close knit group of high school friends, a shadowy past and a pile of drug money. But it's the way it unfolds that makes it satisfying and entertaining, she's able to say a lot with very few words and craft characters that feel real without spending pages and pages on description. A great short read.
