The Help by Kathryn Stockett

5.0

I did something horrible, I watched the movie first, something that I try never to do with books as it just never works out well but with this book everything was great. This book was amazing, the characters, the story, and because I saw the movie first I knew the jist of the story so it filled in all the blanks that I was missing. I feel that it paints a very realistic picture of the southern United States in the 1960's, though of course I wasn't there to experience it. The only part of the book I found distracting was the language in many parts of the story because it was slang and you had to be in a certain mindset to be able to fully understand it. But overall I found this book so good and so well written and I am proud of the people who did the movie as well as they did so well in turning it from page to screen.
