This is about a London police officer, newly graduated from the Academy, who finds out magic is real. It starts kind of lighthearted and joking, but it’s got some real horror in there. Based on the author’s note, I think if you’re American, you’ll want to make sure you have the 10th anniversary edition, because when it was originally published in the United States, they bowdlerized a bunch of the English stuff, because they thought we were too stupid to understand it. This is a great setup for a series of supernatural mysteries, and I’m looking forward to reading more of them.
