The Lady of the Mirrored Lake by Jennifer Ivy Walker

adventurous dark emotional informative lighthearted mysterious medium-paced

5.0

“The Lady Of The Mirrored Lake” is book two of “The Wild Rose And The Sea Raven” series. Walker reached out to me, asking me since I had enjoyed book one so much. If I’d be interested in reading book two, and oh boy am I glad she did!
In this book we were reunited with our favorite Emerald Princess and her Prince/Hero/Knight. We ended book one on a sad yet also happy cliff hanger. Which was immediately picked up in book two. Before I get too far into the review, I want to give my rating and age recommendation.
This book was a solid 10/10 rating from me. The storyline was detailed, and the characters given more depth and background as the book continued on. While also adding new characters. The relationship between the Princess and Knight, I was happy to see was realistic. And yet still held a fairytale feeling. I was happy to find that even the “villains” had a bigger role with more information for us. While adding new "villains" to the story. Which I was happy to see they added more depth to the storyline.
You could easily tell that Walker had way too much fun writing this book. Which made reading it all that much better! I found that she had done such a great job writing this book, I was struggling putting it down once I started it.
Now I had advised that book one was “in my option” PG-13. Because of the relationship between the two main characters, and a few of the villains in book two. I would not recommend that anyone under 15/16 years old reads this by themselves. If your young bookie wants to continue the story. I do recommend reading it with them. This way you both can also enjoy this amazing story, and they do not find the “spicy bits”. I am happy to  say that I was impressed with Walker's detail in this book, with the spicy bits. We got a small sample of it in book one. But oh boy, I didn’t realize she could write those scenes  like that!
I really enjoyed the villains in this book. They had a bigger role in this one then the first. Which really draws the reader in, and adds to the adventure in the story. There are a few unexpected villains that were introduced to us in this second story. One of which I found myself extremely drawn to. This character was both mysterious and interesting. And while her role is as a secondary character. I have a feeling her role is going to grow into a bigger part as the story continues.
I did find out that while the two main characters do share a part of this story apart. Each seems to become stronger from it. This separation also allowed us to get answers to some questions that book one left us with. Though book two also left us with some interesting questions that I'm hoping to have answers to in book three. I wish I could say more about this story. But I don’t want to give away anything. And I know that if I keep writing, I’ll start giving away spoilers. This is the problem with reviewing a book you really enjoyed.
All I can now say is that if you're looking for a story with a  “Game Of Thrones”, and  “Snow White” retelling feeling. Then you need to go get all three books right now. I myself am very excited for the opportunity to read book three as soon as I can.
