The Library Book by Susan Orlean

4.0

As an aspiring librarian and a devoted bibliophile, I greatly enjoyed this book.

The photos were black & white and grainy, sometimes almost totally ambiguous. The book would have benefited from better photos.
Also, an index would be helpful, for the author often jumped from one topic to another for each chapter. However she does a thorough job gathering facts about libraries in general along with investigating the 1986 L.A. library fire & researching the one primary suspect, Harry Peak.

I would have rewarded this book with 5-stars if it hadn’t meandered so much. But there are many topics related to libraries that Orleans covered, so it’s understandable that it doesn’t flow seamlessly from one subject to the next.
