What can I say except I'm a Julien/Whisper fan first and a human being second. If Julien/Whisper has no fans, I'm dead. But that's impossible because they're so goddamn delightful.

The plot of this book is "a funny funny royal guy and the twink sent to murder him" and it's PERFECT. I seriously enjoyed this book and absurd amount, and it got so many embarrassing physical and vocal reactions from me.

I really wish I could formulate thoughts and I might come back after I reread it, but I really enjoyed Whisper's character, the complexity behind his position as an assassin, his remorse at having to do his job, his motivation for doing that job, and his guilt for the fact that he doesn't want to do his job. The perfectionist/scars subplot annihilated me. I love Whisper so much.

And Julien?? Agh, I can see why he was able to fuck half the men in Silaise and then some LOL he's charming, witty, funny, and charismatic as hell, and I love that Whisper is able to ground him some. Literally a perfect couple, if you look past the whole attempted assassination thing.

Anyway, my favorite book of this series tied with Prince of Agony. It was fun and engaging and I kind of wish I could forget the whole thing so I can reread it
