It really is chilling to read how oppressed women are in Saudi Arabia, even in modern times. This true life account by a Saudi princess born in 1953 includes stories like an 8 year old girl being rented out for sex by her parents and a young Saudi woman being ceremoniously drowned in her family swimming pool by her father (who was later praised for the "noble" act) for her crime of committing an immoral sexual act that most American teenagers would probably not give a second thought about. The whole book is simultaneously fascinating and infuriating.
