The Worm and His Kings by Hailey Piper

5.0

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I don't know what to say to convince you to pick this up without spoiling you, but if you are looking for beautiful writing, a queer main character taking charge of reality as we know it, the strange flavor of cosmic and existential horror, and the philosophical exercise of how we can - or cannot - know what time is and our place on its line, this is the novella for you. (Toss in some secret cult living underneath New York for good measure, and this is the story you're headed for.)

The thing that I think really got to me was the horror of how we treat each other, how some people are discarded as useless by society as a whole, and how most of us simply accept that this is how it is. And there's going to be another story in this universe? Yes, please and thank you. I cannot wait.
