I really enjoyed this book! I’m pretty sure it was my first baseball romance! The Windy City series has become a favorite of mine in the romance world, and now that Rewind It Back is out, I’m excited to listen to the rest! I love how the characters in each book are so connected, like an invisible strong pulling together a group of wealthy (I mean, well-adjusted) friends. Because this is a series, I love that’s I got little updates on our former main characters, and let me just say, I love that’s we got Ryan and Indy’s wedding!! There were some sweet elements that were specific to them even though we saw their wedding through Kai’s eyes. Kai was an okay character but has the sweetest son Max, who I loved. And Miller was such a spunky FMC. I loved her sense of adventure, especially knowing that this is a romance book and she’ll settle down by the end of it! Reading about all the desserts she made was making my mouth water, especially as someone that would describe themself as a dessert person 😂 I think my favorite part of this book is that neither main character tried to change the other! I hate when someone gets the “I can fix them” mentality and then uses all their energy to turn someone into “a better version of themself.” I was so glad Kai didn’t try to convince Miller to change. He didn’t try to convince her to do anything and did what he could to help her grow the way SHE thought she wanted to, and in doing so, I think he helped her fall more for him than she would have. He recognized her value and worth as she was and helped her pursue her dreams. That’s a much better way to show love, in my opinion!
Narration: Megan Wicks is amazing. She voices everyone well especially Stevie (I’m basing this on the way she matches the way Juniper Young (Indy) and Mari (Stevie) voiced her. I loved listening to her chapters and preferred when the story was told through her perspective. On the other hand, I’m not really a fall fan of Alex Kydd 🫣 I knew this going in, so I was prepared, but the way he laughs gives me the ick. And the way he voices female characters gives me an even bigger ick 🥴 normally I eventually get used to a narrators voice, but that just didn’t happen with this one. Fortunately, I loved the story! I love a softie MMC that knows what he wants.
