Abby Jimenez writes the best MMC’s because they’re so idyllic. These men do not exist they are too perfect and you know what?? I eat it up. This is fantasy baby 😂 I liked this book! Her books are always an easy read. They’re brain-off hallmark specials and you know what you’re getting each time. I think she struggles trying to make it gritty/realistic. The “depth” she gives her characters can often feel a bit exploitive of real issues people deal with like grief, loss, substance abuse, infertility etc. I don’t think the author is well researched enough to do these heavy things full justice. I’d prefer if she just leaned in to the cheesy cliche romance of it all. The FMC’s she writes are usually “not like other girls” which can be annoying but I liked Sloan a lot.

Honestly this book could’ve ended around the 60% mark when she agrees to go on tour with him. I didn’t enjoy the final quarter of the book until we got to the very end. Also skip the epilogue - it undoes all the character growth and depth and just turns the whole romance cookie cutter with a happily ever after pregnancy trope. She tries to have it both ways and she’s just gotta pick one.

As always I love seeing the side characters from other books pop up. Some of the characters - especially the minor ones on Jackson’s team felt flat as cardboard. They didn’t need names, they didn’t do a lot and it felt like time wasted.

The miscommunication/betrayal trope in this book is baaaaaad so if you don’t rock with that I’d skip this. Jason had me fucked up when he got on that motorcycle.

Overall, it’s an okay book. Middle of the road but an easy read and it’s honestly like pizza. Even when it’s bad it’s still good and most people like it, it feels like reheated leftovers and sometimes that’s exactly what I’m craving.
