Revolting Rhymes
by Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl's book are full of poetry, mostly in the shape of songs, but 'Revolting Rhymes' is a rare collection of pure poetry. In this book Dahl retells six classic fairy tales, in his own unique fashion. The rhymes are not as much revolting as they are quirky and off-beat, even though Dahl's versions know more killings than the originals. Most shocking may be the end of the final poem, 'The Three Little Pigs', which knows only one survivor, who isn't even in the original fairy tale. A great example of Dahl's unique black humor.
