I’m amazed I’ve only just recently heard of this book. It had never been in any curriculum in classes I have taken not in any of my children’s classes. It’s nearly perfect. His prose is at once simple and elegant as well as masterfully able to convey the complexity of Stoner’s feelings and relationships.
