Ocean Vuong has such an interesting way of putting words together and what I appreciated in particular from this poetry collection was his play with pacing. So many of the poems are felt like I was reading them in one breath, as words merged from line to line in intriguing ways. Clearly written in the grief of losing his mom to cancer, this collection becomes the poet's elegy. Heartbreaking, visceral, and challenging in all the good and difficult ways Vuong is known for.
