A Dance with the Fae Prince by Elise Kova

5.0

This story has some Cinderella elements while also being very similar to [b:An Enchantment of Ravens|30969741|An Enchantment of Ravens|Margaret Rogerson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1486244049l/30969741._SY75_.jpg|51586838] which I must say I personally enjoyed more than this story but that isn't to say I didn't like this book. I really like the way Elise Kova writes especially when she is describing a world. Her style is very descriptive and also very poetic which makes for a beautifully written story.

I think that this was a good stand alone because it is similar to the first book in style but also very different in terms of characters and plot. There is one reference to the first book with the human queen supplying power through the throne which I thought was a good touch and also not overdone.

While this is a very *very* predictable story it is still still enjoyable. It is a simple and sweet stand alone story with good characters and a nice but expected romance. There are some nice minor characters who are all unique and entertaining in different ways which made for a good book overall not just good in terms of romance.

I will admit that the smut made me cringe at some point. The sentence, “I want to shatter together and fall like the silvery arcs of shooting stars as we descend from heaven of our making...” just didn't do it for me but that's my preference. It wasn't overly detailed and some parts were okay. I really didn't get that when...
Spoiler their friends are missing, possibly dead, the two main characters decide to fuck. Didn't really go will with the emotional tone of that part of the book.

In some parts it felt like it dragged on a bit too much for a predictable story. I like simple stories as long as the characters are good and sometimes they did feel not emotionally complex enough.
