I read this book right before going to college. I found it beautiful, personal, and deeply touching in its honesty, eccentricity, and poetry. Smith is a master at romanticizing the mundane. It makes the reader feel like they are speaking to her directly, as she oscillates between sharing fascinating tales from the life of a punk rock legend and artist as if they are a regular day. One of my favorites that made me fall in love with Patti Smith's writing.
