We Were Meant to Burn is an emotionally gripping, roller coaster ride that you will not be able to put down. Nix has been captured and held prisoner by the enemy, Malakai is the mercenary that was paid to save her, and every side wants to control the Nightshade of Rojas. 

Elzie sets her story in a world that has been beautifully written. From the kingdoms, to a deadly jungle, to the magical systems she has created, every aspect is detailed and throws you into a world you will love. Full of unexpected twists, deceit, betrayal, and the fierce resolves of Nix and the mercenaries, We Were Meant to Burn will take you through every emotion as you move through Nix’s story. I shed tears, laughed out loud, and felt the sadness that comes along with the characters back stories. The group of mercenaries that rescues Nix are special in their own ways with stories that will both break your heart and make you smile.
