The Book of Shadows by Namita Gokhale

At first I didn’t like it at all. I thought I’m not a big fan of stream of conscious I just get lost in it. But upon being introduced to the ghost, i was completely and utterly in love. It brought light to and surfaced ideas upon selfhood, humanness, and time that every single person can re-examine their own lives with. You see how much can happen upon generations and generations guests upon guests of a house and in the end to realize it was all just the beasts of one lady’s mind in fucking mind blowing. They were all so real and now in the writing, they remain real. I think it was intentionally confusing. She was literally going crazy, and I can appreciate that choice to use stream of conscious a lot more in the end. It taught me so much about life and personhood.
