Bloom in my opinion could be described as a sapphic cottage core horror novella. With English professor Ro and baker/crafter/farmer Ash and a chance meeting, it’s a U-Haul romance story to boot! They just can’t get away from each other!!
When first reading Bloom I was confused how it could ever be classified as horror, but it DELIVERED. When I say stick to it, really do, because it really flips itself on its head.
I loved both Ro and Ash as characters, each with their own problems they are needing to face. I do wish parts of the story had more to it cause I was clawing at the narrative wanting more sometimes. Honestly just a few more chapters would have I think satisfied me. Despite this, it is an enjoyable read and can’t wait to read more of Dawson’s work!!
Graphic: Animal death, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Sexual content, Toxic relationship, Blood
Minor: Sexism
