I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

emotional inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

McCurdy is my own age. I watched her periodically on the television growing up and now my children watch her reruns on Netflix. They quote Sam's butter sock lines and even play 'I-Carly' at recess with friends. It is hard to not know what this book is about before picking it up. The trigger warnings are there for a reason, and if you have been effected by a narcissist in anyway you will relate to this memoir.

Immediately I was drawn into the emotional damage this woman portrays. Jennette McCurdy has done a wonderful job with the timeline, as the book progresses to present day without jumping around or becoming chaotic. To be able to learn from her experiences, to become more aware of signs and symptoms of abuse because of her openly expressing herself is a gift.

I highly recommend this book, the hype and her success is well deserved. I wish her many years of continued healing.
