I felt like the narrative voice was a bit gimmicky in this at first but I settled into it, and Eleanor’s way of seeing the world was very funny. Some parts of this book did feel truly artful and I loved the focus on human connection and how much little acts of connection with strangers can help someone who is struggling with loneliness and isolation. It made me reflect on how much ‘odd’ people are isolated socially and the real power of simple kindness. The big twists and revelations I did see coming, and they felt a bit of a plot cliche, hence my star rating isn’t higher. Nevertheless it was a powerful book and powerful insight on how trauma affects people throughout their lives, especially if untended. - however  it makes sense that these topics weren’t autobiographical from the authors experience (as far as I know) as the accounts seemed a bit cliche and trauma porn-y (lol).
