Broken Knight
by L.J. Shen
What can I say about LJ Shen’s writing other than the fact that she destroys me with every single story? No for real, every.single.story. I’m a sucker for pain though it seems so here we are.
Broken Knight is honesty indescribable. I’m not a big fan of spin off stories normally. I don’t mind series that exist within the same worlds but I’m not here for authors taking characters I love and putting them back in my face without it being their story, you know? Well I threw that entire opinion out the window for All Saint’s High. When LJ Shen announced that the hotholes children were getting a series I was so excited but also really nervous because I love these characters but I knew if anyone could do it justice, it would be LJ Shen and I was right!
Broken Knight is easily in my top 5 LJ Shen books of all the time. The tears. The emotions. EVERYTHING about Knight and Luna was perfect; it was heartbreaking, it honestly felt like LJ Shen physically ripped my heart out. There are a few books this year that brought me to physical tears (I’ll talk about one later) and this was one of them. I’ll be honest, I was curled up with a bowl of ice cream when I was done. Trust me when I say though, that despite Broken Knight being heartbreaking, it was also such a beautiful story.
