Such an interesting book with very valid and balanced points. The author was a senior trainer at Seaworld and is able to offer a very behind the scenes look at working with orcas. I’ve always been fascinated with orcas and saw them as a child at Marine World, but can also appreciate that the environment that is provided for them is not healthy. John Hargrove sees the value in teaching people about these amazing creatures and how smart and empathetic they are. After rising through the ranks of Sea World, John begins to realize the politics involved and how maybe the dangerous behaviors exhibited by orcas in captivity are because of us.
