A Deadly Education
by Naomi Novik
The school setting was really cool and well thought out and the magic system was too. Since we were in El’s head the whole time though I quickly grew irritated with her persistent misjudgements (to her own credit, she’s in a school that tries to kill you). I think I would’ve liked it better if it was third person and we weren’t constantly knowing what she was thinking. It made the feeling of time move very weird in this book IMO.
