3.75
3.75 for a classic this is such an easy read and really is the vampire book. I found it interesting that it was quite different to all adaptations I have seen. Lucy is in about two thirds of the book and has not only a prominent role but is a leading lady of the book.
I will warn that this is of course still a classic, so the language at times is repetitive, old fashioned, and working male characters are written in a semi-unreadable "cockney". I didnt like the way poorer characters or non-english characters were written, their language never flowed right, however this is very much a sign of the times when this was written.
Obviously don't go into this expecting gore and frights. It is a slow burn mystery that has elements of horror and thrills.
I enjoyed reading this.
