The first 70% of the book was solid- nothing groundbreaking, but it was a decent read and I was enjoying it.

But that freaking plot twist ruined everything. I DNF’d it without a second thought.

I enjoyed the banter in the beginning, but as it kept going it just got more cringeworthy. It started to feel forced and repetitive. Not much was keeping me interested and the third act conflict was a cheap way to keep readers entertained.

I was hopeful of the tropes- single-dad, protective grump, and small-town romance would've been right up my alley, but that plot twist ruined everything for me.

I'm bummed this is the first book I read in 2024 because it was a disappointment.
