Black Tudors: The Untold Story by Miranda Kaufmann

It's always a fascinating experience to learn the world you live in and its past were more colourful than you previously thought. What an interesting look into a part of history I'd never really considered and, before now, wasn't aware even existed. The Black lives that were chosen to feature in this book represent so many facets of 16th and 17th century life that I came away from each part feeling like I had learned something new and made me interested in exploring further. However, I did find the pace somewhat plodding and the tone of the book very dry. I think it could be a little less detailed, as I could have come away with the same ideas even with less pages. I found the book occasionally losing my attention and having to go back to recall necessary details. Still, I do think my time was well-spent with this book!
