I started this book not knowing if I’ll enjoy it at all because I’ve seen very conflicting opinions. I did personally enjoy it! I enjoyed the writing and discussing woman-centered topics that rarely get discussed in literature. Regarding the common criticisms, I understand why people might find the protagonist self-centered and annoying but I don’t think the book is necessarily even trying to portray her as loveable. I’ve also seen people say the book is shocking for the sake of being shocking. Maybe I’m too used to weird things happening in books, but I wasn’t that weirded out by the events in the book? And I thought the “weirdness” served a purpose.
