I think this has been my favorite book of the series so far! Teddy is down on her luck with her job ending and being her father's caretaker she needs to find her next move, so when her best friend Emmy(from book 1) suggests she nanny for her brother's daughter while his ex-wife is away she reluctantly takes it. The only problem? She cannot stand him! August is bristly and closed off. He doesn't want the wild and free-spirited Teddy to be in charge of his daughter. But both are in for a surprise when living together shows that they may be better together than they every thought!
The steam and romance were so on point! I was stuck in a reading rut and this is exactly what I needed to get me out of it. The forced proximity was good. The balance between love and hate was written so delectable! And we got to see some of our favorite characters from previous books which is just the icing on top of the cake.
Outside of the romance, the themes and hardships these characters face are so real. I loved and related so much to Teddy. She is feeling left behind while everyone else is moving forward in their lives, finding spouses, and having kids, while she is a bit stagnant. I am at that stage in my life and the whole plot point was very validating for me. I also related to August and the pressure he felt to be there for everyone and hold the family together, even at the expense of himself.
Read if you like an enemies to lovers, best friend's brother's, single dad romance set in a small western town.
