P.S. I Spook You by S.E. Harmon

5.0

I've had this on my TBR Shelf for ages and thought it was about time I read it. I'm rather miffed that I left it so long to read. It has two of my favourite things mixed together, ghosts and detectives.

The book is about Rain and Danny. Rain is an FBI sensation working for the BAU, and Danny works as a Cold Case Detective. Rain has been on medical leave due to an episode with a family of a victim. He relayed a message from their child and it didn't go well. He was forced on medical leave for a mental breakdown. He is offered a case to solve, a Cold Case to help him keep his job. It's missing persons Case from 5 years ago, it happened in his home town, so he's off home. The one problem is that the lead detective is his ex-boyfriend, who he left for his job. Let the crazy begin!

I loved Rain in this book. He is struggling with the fact that he can see, and talk to ghosts. He is trying his hardest to ignore it, but that doesn't exactly work for him. It was great to see him slowly come to realise that he wasn't crazy, he could really see and talk to them. I loved his interactions with the ghosts, especially Ethan. It was great seeing his interactions with his family, and really getting to know who he truly is behind the mask he has on.

Danny was totally opposite to Rain. He was like Rain in their relationship though, they were both hiding things from the other. Danny was hiding the truth about his family and sister, Rain was hiding that he could see ghosts. When they meet again that attraction is still there, but they fight it. They play on that fact till about half way through, when they finally explode. The sex scene that follows is hot and heavy. When Rain finally tells Danny that he can see ghost, he reacts like Rain expects. But I liked that he was trying to get his head around it and not just deny it straight away.

I loved the case they worked. We learn a lot about the people involved and you realise that it could of been any of them. It wasn't till about 80% that I finally figured it out, just before Rain did. The conclusion to it was amazing, and I hate that people can be like that. I loved how Rain and Danny worked together on the case, you could see how they know how the other worked. They were like a well oiled machine, with maybe a few not so oiled parts at times. It was great seeing the ghosts giving him a helping hand, they weren't just glossed over and overlooked. Ghosts were used well in a book for once. I liked the way it ended and set us up for the further books, I am definitely going to read then as I enjoyed this one so much. I love a good detective story!
