I was so excited for this book but it fell flat for me. I loved Liz and Wes and their banter in the first book, as well as their cute short stories in between. This one just felt off though. There’s not as much banter and felt like there was a lot of fluff about Liz maturing in college. Most people do but it seems like she just gave up on love and didn’t care about doing anything except her career. Like why wouldn’t she continue talking to Wes or check in on him after his father died? Like if you cared that much about him, wouldn’t you follow up? And how could you be so self absorbed in college that you don’t realize how much your boyfriend is hurting, especially for these two who seemed so perfect and knew each other so well. Wes was wanting the best for Liz and felt like he was holding her back. He was also dealing with a ton of grief and stress, so how could Liz not see that especially when she dealt with her own grief with her mom. Just seems like the author forgot who she was writing. And for Liz to just stop loving love stories etc, just feels like she forgot about her mom as well. Just so off base for me. I was happy to see them get back together and for Liz to admit her feelings but the ending just felt short like there was a big build up only to be let down with the final moment.
Moderate: Grief, Death of parent, and Alcohol
Minor: Injury/Injury detail
