A cathartic, charming, and whimsical read, The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea gives off major Spirited Away vibes.

The story took familiar but clever turns, and some of the twists were predictable, but I found this story very satisfying- a comfort read, really. I read along with the audio book and enjoyed listening it!

The story tackles tough issues like death and grief. There was a major trigger for me (infant and child loss/death) but Axie Oh did a great job of handling the topic with care. Nothing gory but may be triggering for some.

If you love clean fairy tale/mythology based fantasy romance and you enjoy Studio Ghibli storytelling, you'll enjoy this.
