saburcham21 's review for:
Petrified Women
by Jeremy Ray
First, I would like to thank the author, Jeremy Ray, for providing me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review!
This was a gripping novella and once I started, I did not want to put it down! At first it seemed like this would lean more towards suspense/thriller, but then the horror with a little supernatural was introduced and I was even more absorbed. The perfect mix of drama, gore, and spookiness.
Without giving too much away, the only critique I have is that typically a supernatural element in a book has a backstory or a brief answer to why/how it is happening and this one didn’t really have anything. I enjoy reading about a backstory and I think they are necessary to moving a plot along.
Overall, this was an exciting 92 page novella that was jam-packed with scares and thrills from start to finish. Perfect for spooky season!
