One of my friends from grad school co-authored this book about the life of one of his grandfathers, Edmund Klepps. Edmund grew up during the Great Depression, joined the Navy, and was aboard the USS Helena in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941. And that wasn’t his only near-death experience! If you’re into war stories, learning about life during World War II from a soldier’s perspective, and family, you’ll enjoy this book.
