I have always been a fan of Maya Angelou now I am an air conditioner. (Okay, it's a bad joke, I am sorry). I've started this year with the shortest book whereby it only compiled 4 poems written by Maya Angelou particularly for women. I've discovered Sonia Sanchez along the way this year who's also professed her love towards Maya Angelou. I understand that not everyone like poems and not everyone understands poetry. However, if suddenly you did want to escape and just enjoy words and feelings cocooned into one, please pick up Maya Angelou's poems. I have bookmarked many pages while I reading this but now I faced difficulty choosing which poems I really connected spiritually.

History despite it's wrenching pain,
Cannot be unlived,
But if faced with courage,
Need not to be lived again,

When great souls die,
The air around us becomes light, rare and sterile,
We breath briefly
Our eyes briefly
See with hurtful clarity.
Our memory suddenly sharpened, examines
Gnawed on kind words unsaid
Promised walks never taken.

Centred to the world stage,
She sings to her loved and beloved
To her foes and detectors
However I am perceived and deceived
However, my ignorances and conceits,
Lay aside your fears that I will be undone,
For I shall not be moved.

When I think about myself,
I almost laugh myself to death
My life has been one great big joke
A dance that's walked
A song that spoke
I laugh so hard I almost choke
When I think about myself.
