A Faint Cold Fear
by Karin Slaughter
I really wanted to like this murder mystery. Usually a series gets better and better but this last book in the series fell way short IMO. it takes such little effort to do research and when the author fails in the detail the book loses authenticity. For example, “I barely had enough time to grab the Glock, slam on the magazine and flip off the safety…” unlike many handguns, there is no safety to flip off on a Glock. Additionally, you would need to rack in a round in order for the Glock to fire something. On the shot got, the author referred to the shotgun shell as a bullet. It’s not a bullet it’s filled with numerous small, pellet-like spherical sub-projectiles called shot.
The worst about the novel however were not these picky details, the worst was how she turned an otherwise decent novel in to an R rated novel. Totally unnecessary and ruined any positive there was in the novel.
