I often download the free book of the week on the Apple bookstore, and occassionally even get round to reading them. Sometimes they are great, sometimes they are not. This was not great. I quite liked the set up for the story - Grace investigates the treasures found in an abandoned storage unit and follows a trail that leads her the life of the storage unit owner as an unmarried wartime mother and later GI bride to an Italian-American - and her background as an unpaid carer for her domineering mother was also an interesting angle. The writing was very pedestrian though and though it was a quick enough read the story never really came to life. The romance and the twists therein was the best bit of the book, so if that's what your after you may very well enjoy it, but I wanted more than that.
